Writing about Marthese is my first attempt at reality check because my mind cannot as yet comprehend, let alone accept, the sudden unexpected demise of Marthese.

Marthese joined our company in 2018 and in no time she showed exceptional qualities when it came to attention to detail and diligence. For her there was no room for half measures or slipshod work. In a short time, she took over the running of our Front Office, building a team of colleagues around her, from whom she demanded the same level of diligence as she applied for her own work. Our clients loved dealing with her, because she would always go that extra mile to accommodate their requirements. A unique personality.

Her passion for her dogs – my children she called them – was the subject of discussion whenever we met socially, as were her plans for the future with Alfred – whom she knew doted on her and shared her enthusiasm to enjoy life. Fate unfortunately had other plans.

We cherish the years she spent with us at Focal Maritime and the work ethic that she brought to the office every day. While extending our condolences to her husband Alfred, her parents and family, we mourn the sudden death of a colleague, teammate and friend. Our consolation lies in the knowledge and belief that she is now tending to the kennels in heaven – a loving soul full of tender care.

Farewell dear friend and may your soul rest in peace forever.
