IATA Diploma accreditation

16/10/13

Focal Maritime Services are pleased to announce that in recent weeks, one of its staff Mr Jonathan Xerri sat and passed successfully the examinations leading to him being accredited with the IATA diploma accreditation. The company now has two personnel, namely Mr Jonathan Xerri and Mr Patrick Saliba, that obtained this accreditation. Both personnel completed the course of IATA Air Cargo, and have obtained the skills to:

  • Identify air cargo terms and expressions
  • Control and maximize the use of space in aircraft holds
  • Understand aircraft routings and industry manuals such as TACT and OAG World Airways Guides
  • Apply basic rating principles and state and operator variation
  • Follow IATA standards to accept cargo and complete documents and improve customer service

In this way, on the strength of these two qualified personnel the company can now proceed to apply for IATA membership. This will also permit Focal Maritime Services to participate even more in the carriage of cargo by air – a sector that the company has been working on for the last two years and which is already showing positive results.
